Abstract :
In the rapidly developing world of technology in which reliance on Service-Oriented Web applications is increasing tremendously, there is an urgent need for highly manageable and controllable Software Configuration Management (SCM) systems that can support concurrent development of those applications to ensure that they can adapt to concurrent changes. The reality is that these services are susceptible to constant changes, such as changes in structures, behaviours and policies, which give rise to the issue of compatibility among services. As a result, developers require a mechanism to identify relevant compatibility issues that can potentially arise when developing services with a SCM system. The purpose of this paper is to synthesise various studies in order to help developers understand various compatibility issues and their implications involved in developing services when using Service-Oriented SCM systems.
