Abstract :
Speed of a dc series motor can be controlled using diverter in the field circuit of motor. This paper derives an equation which shows the direct relation between speed of dc series motor and the diverter. Characteristics of speed based on the derived equation have been simulated for different values of diverter at different loads. Finally it relates the saturation points of speeds at specific values of diverter with different loads and shows the torque characteristics of motor.
