  • Abstract
Switched Reluctance Motors are becoming increasingly popular in the automotive industry for their capability for high-speed operation, low manufacturing cost and relatively simple and robust design. Like other electric machines, SRM requires a thermal management system to dissipate the excessive thermal energy generated during use. By utilizing advanced materials, it is possible to develop an axial cooling system for SRM. This paper discusses the role of axial cooling and the development of improved materials and their contribution to the axial cooling application.
