Title :
Flight planning in the future collaborative environment

Abstract :
■ Future flight planning services provide feedback prior to filing on what is expected to happen to a flight given a plan - Deterministic (ε) and uncertain (η) component to cost - Allows improved selection of optimal flight plan - Prior work shows benefits of feedback on e - This work focused on obtaining η using feedback, data sharing and simulation ■ Example applied to MIT restriction illustrates: - Statistics of restrictions obtained → 50% correct alerting at 142 minutes look-ahead - Proposed blending of feedback with historical. Improves correlation over historical or feedback alone in an example. - When feedback is given on a restriction, it tends to be correct (false alerts are low) - Larger study required ■ Impact of restrictions can be large enough to warrant shift of optimal route choice ■ Simulation approach can be extended to other types of feedback
