Monitoring of social networking sites

Social networks attract more and more attention of researchers because of their growing in popularity worldwide. Furthermore, the top social networking sites have become the most frequently visited pages on the Internet. This paper aims to provide an overview of the most popular social network sites and a comparison of these. Moreover, the paper analyzes the concepts of trust and privacy in social networks. Finally, the paper discusses the main findings for a monitoring platform named Netvibes that can extract and aggregate feeds from different social networking sites for building dashboards and notification applications.
