Abstract :
The impact of plug-in electric vehicles on urban power grids is a major issue for distribution network operators. To avoid a reduction in quality of electricity the operation of electric vehicle charging stations should be coordinated. The paper presents a model of a Smart Control System aimed to coordinate the charging stations and bring benefits to both the power network operator and EV users. The model has been developed in AnyLogic software environment using agent-based and discrete approaches. Two different control strategies were simulated to validate the proposed model. The first strategy aimed to provide equal load to all charging stations. The second strategy focused on bringing EV drivers to the nearest charging station. It was shown that the first strategy is more efficient compared to the second strategy if the cars´ flow rate is low.
