Abstract :
This paper presents the knowledge of investigating the haptic product experience among the Blind and Visually Impaired (BVI) user. It is important that by providing more complete, practical and useful assessment activity for the BVI, designer may build a basis-structured user centered model approach to haptics product design for this group. The knowledge in understanding the visually impaired group sensitivity in touching skills will elucidate potential of reasoning enhancement in multiple design disciplines and category towards generating new design idea or development solely for this target group. Physical appearance of a designed product justifies philosophical effect through the way they are perceived. In order of creating good end products, there is a need of knowledge on the capabilities and limitations of general human touch; the technical possibilities of designing for touch; and how resulting designs affect haptic interaction and the overall use [1]. The issues on this paper will be covering general responses of touching activities through visually impaired perspective by looking at positive aspects, negative aspects, ethics and conclusions. In order of finding how the aptitudes are articulated, the verbal protocol analysis will be carried out through interviewing three respondents of Visually Impaired Group under B1 classification, which considered as total visual impairment or total blindness according to Malaysian Association for the Blind in 2012.
