Abstract :
Pathways to successful employment of male and female engineering students were investigated through a survey of graduates from the most recent 10 years. Curricular and extracurricular activities helpful for successful employment were rated, and program needs were identified. Survey responses were analyzed by gender and the years on the job. The recent graduates had more positive experiences with their education and had higher levels of career aspirations in engineering. The change was more distinct in female students. In the stage of employment preparation, the <;5 group participated in more diverse employment programs than the 5+ group. Gender discrimination and masculine corporate culture are still barriers that women need to overcome.
