Abstract :
Histogram equalization (HE) is a popular technique used for digital image enhancement, is not very suitable to be implemented directly in consumer electronics, such as television, because this method tends to produce an output with saturation effect. In order to avoid unnatural enhancement, HE with variable enhancement degree (HEwVED) is introduced to restore proper color of low contrast image. The enhancement degree of HEwVED is controlled by the parameter. Since our method is able to control the enhancement degree and the mean of image is tend to be preserved, all kinds of images are enhanced adequately. In this paper, we mainly consider the natural color images including human faces to restore the original skin color accurately. Thus, we adjust the parameter of HEwVED, in order to restore the skin color of human face.
