Abstract
In this paper a circular patch antenna with a slot is investigated in details for ultra wideband application. A 50 ohm microstrip feed line is used for exciting the antenna. The antenna resonates at multiple frequencies of 4.8 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 9 GHz and 12 GHz respectively with a bandwidth of 2 GHz and 5.2 GHz and can be effectively utilised for several wireless as well as X-band applications. The gain of the antenna is later enhanced using Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) which acts as a reflector placed underneath the antenna at optimum distance. All the necessary simulations has been performed in HFSS 2013.
