Abstract :
In this paper, new ultra-wide band (UWB) stop-band frequency selective surface (FSS) is proposed and its capability of enhancing the gain of UWB monopole antenna in constant manner is proved. The frequency band over which flat stop-band response is achieved, covers the entire UWB band from 3 to 12GHz for both polarizations. The proposed FSS constitutes with compact size unit cells printed on one side of dielectric substrate. Providing good candidate for UWB applications especially, as reflector to maximize the gain of UWB omnidirectional antennas which has been proved by means of using circular monopole UWB antenna as radiator. The features of the proposed UWB FSS make it an optimized solution for integration with compact broadband circuits as well.
