Abstract :
In this paper, a new switchable ring frequency selective surface is presented. The unit-cell of the proposed surface is characterized by its reduced number of active elements. The active elements are reduced three times compared to the conventional switchable ring frequency selective surface. A comparative study is made between the proposed and conventional unit cells. PIN diodes are integrated to the unit-cells with variable lumped elements. Obtained results show that an extra null with wide bandwidth distinguishes the proposed unit cell from the conventional one. The other nulls in the proposed unit cell have more bandwidth and less corresponding transmitted power percentage. To demonstrate this approach, results are presented and discussed.
