Abstract
This paper is devoted to validate a novel D-FACTS connected based on modified distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) in an interconnected wind-grid system. The modified DSTATCOM is controlled by PID controller driven by a multi loop dynamic error controller scheme. A complete simulation model of the proposed system is developed in Matlab/Simulink Environment. The results show that the modified DSTATCOM fully validated for effective load balancing, harmonic mitigation, voltage stabilization and power factor correction The proposed modified DSTATCOM device can be extended to other distributed/dispersed renewable energy systems as well as smart grid energy management system and can be easily modified for other specific voltage/VAR compensation requirements, voltage regulation and efficient energy utilization.
