Abstract
A novel implantable fractal antenna is proposed. The antenna operates at the dual-frequency bands of medical implant communication services (MICS) band (402-405 MHz) with a bandwidth of 79 MHz (364-443 MHz, and Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band (2.4-2.48 GHz) with a bandwidth of 220 MHz (2.33-2.55 GHz), respectively. Differential configuration makes the proposed antenna can directly connect the differential circuitries of radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) and fractal technologies are employed to miniaturize the dimension of proposed antenna. The sizes of the antenna are 9.4 × 9.4 × 0.635 mm3. Considering the human safety, the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), as a crucial factor for implantable antennas, is simulated in HFSS three-layer phantom.
