Abstract :
This paper presents partial results, focusing mainly on the antenna and propagation aspects, of a research project whose goal is to design and prototype a wireless sensor network for real time monitoring of the working conditions of the bearings on trains. The issue of power supply is also assessed and a proof of concept of an Energy Harvesting prototype is presented: the device may replace batteries in such distributed monitoring systems.
