  • Abstract
    A vision of the photonic network in Big Data/5G era in 2020 and beyond, which envisages a “Smart Photonic Cloud (SPC)” is presented. Three “Ss” key enabling technologies relevant to SPC, namely scale-free photonics, smart photonic networking, and a synthetic transport platform are proposed.
