Abstract
We present fast Mach-Zehnder-based electrooptic silicon photonic switches. We review our latest results on low-insertion-loss and low-crosstalk broadband 2 × 2 and 4 × 4 switches designed and fabricated in IBM´s 90nm photonics-enabled CMOS process. We also highlight the main challenges that need to be addressed in order to enable the scalability of silicon photonics for optical switching.
