Abstract
In this research, we focused on the measurement and two-dimensional fast Fourier transform analysis of wedge waves propagating along the tip of circular wedge acoustic waveguides. Dynamic two-dimensional fast Fourier transform analysis was employed to investigate the dispersion behaviors of wedge waves. In addition, the wedge waves that propagate along the tip of a truncated wedge are also discussed. The analysis results were used to evaluate the well-known thin plate theory proposed by McKenna. We found that the prediction is only suitable for wedges with small apex angles within very limited frequency regimes. In the case of circular wedges, we found that dispersion relation exhibits a negative slope in terms of the phase velocity and frequency for the first anti-symmetric mode of the wedge wave.
