Abstract
We theoretically demonstrate a slotted phononic crystals (SPC) can serve as a high sensitivity liquid sensor platform. The sensor mechanism is based on the analysis the transmission spectrums of the SPC filled with different molar concentration liquid mixtures. These transmission peaks are strongly depend both on the liquid sound velocity and on liquid density, which can serve as measure for liquid composition. The proposed SPC has a compact size, high quality factor and may be integrated on a chip for highly efficient lab-on-chip biochemical sensing application.
