Abstract
In this paper, a model predictive control scheme is proposed for the load frequency control (LFC) problem of a two area deregulated power system with measured (contracted) and unmeasured (uncontracted) loads. The proposed controller is designed by posing the problem as a tracking one with states and input constraints representing generation rate constraints and input limits respectively. The simulation results obtained from implementing the proposed scheme showed its effectiveness in handling the LFC problem.
