  • Abstract
The mechanism of inhibition of virus activity by nanoparticles based on the local-field enhancement effect [1] was proposed and experimentally confirmed in some works[2,3]. The local-field enhancement leads to damage of the active centers of the viral capsid. Then the existence of strong local field at the virus capsid can be used for inhibition of virus activity and, thereby, can be the base of developing the new approaches to antiviral therapy. However, the strong local-field can be formed in vicinity of the surface roughness by action of evanescent field of surface plasmon polariton. The effect of local-field enhancement can be a reason of strong local-field arising at the viral capsid when a virus is located at the surface roughness.
