Abstract :
We developed a contactless interface for effectively controlling 2D and 3D medical images in operating rooms, which was implemented in the in-house 3D PACS program with a sensor device, a foot pedal and a mobile workstation. Various pre-defined hand motions and gestures were used for rotating, zooming, panning images or mimicking the movement of a mouse to the monitor screen. The software was installed and tested in a mobile workstation, which was moved to the operating room to be able to control medical images while maintaining aseptic conditions. Performance testing of this interface was evaluated by radiologists and was successfully used in practice by surgeons.
