Abstract
In this paper, a more systematic and rational approach to design of compliant flexure-hinge amplification mechanisms is presented. The existing approach has only considered the amplification ratio but not the orientation difference between the input and output. This has caused the inadequate classification of flexure-hinge amplification mechanisms and difficulty in designing of them. In the proposed approach, amplification ratio and difference in orientation between input and output are treated separately and considered as two different function requirements. Based on this idea, the working principle for flexure-hinge amplification mechanism is modified to reflect the separation of the two requirements. The paper provides an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
