Abstract
In this paper, a phased sequential preventive maintenance policy is proposed aiming at the poor operability of typical sequential preventive maintenance policy. The objective is to maintain the system at a certain level of reliability with minimal operation maintenance cost. In the proposed policy, the maintenance process is divided into three phases. For any give phases, the maintenance intervals are fixed. Any types of maintenance actions have a distinct effect on the reliability of the system and the corresponding cost based on the required resources. The cost function includes minimal repair cost, replacement cost, PM action cost, and system downtime cost. Finally, a case study shows that, compared with typical sequential preventive maintenance policy, the proposed model can effectively save maintenance resources and total operation cost. Moreover, it is more conducive to practical engineering applications.
