Abstract :
More than 50% of China´s population is currently live in cities. The trend of urbanization highlights the importance of city sustainability. To achieve the goal of city sustainable development, it is essential to evaluate the city development by considering diverse performance indicators under the sustainability dimensions of economic, social, and environmental. As the indicators present some interaction, such as correlation, complementarity, and preferential dependence, it is also important to consider the interaction between indicators into the evaluation process. To this end, this paper develops an evaluation method using I-OWA operators for obtaining a composite sustainability index for each city to be assessed. To examine the effectiveness of the method, an empirical study is conducted in Jiangsu province in China.
