Assessment of Volt/Var control schemes at power distribution level

This paper proposes a general approach to assess the effectiveness of a Volt/Var control (VVC) scheme for a power distribution system. It first provides a comprehensive list of possible performance metrics for VVC. Then, a power flow based method is proposed to estimate the metrics considered. To illustrate the approach, a case study for a given VVC scheme on a test feeder with high PV penetration is also presented.
