Abstract
The objective of this study is to investigate the transient behavior of a distribution network when photovoltaic (PV) systems with relatively high capacity are injecting their power. Therefore, using DIgSILENT, this study models a substation distribution system, including feeder J1 with 3,434 buses in the northeastern United States, adds four PV systems with relatively high capacity (28.8 percent of peak generation of the substation), and examines transient responses of the feeder when PV systems either able or unable to control reactive power are injecting their power.
