Abstract :
This paper clarifies the effect of hearing music on reading. This paper focuses on text data especially novels. Impression changes through presenting a music material in reading a novel are clarified. It is also clarified the relationship of the effects on deep impression aroused by harmonic feeling between text and music materials. First, the impression evaluation experiment is conducted with using a novel and music in order to obtain information about impression after listening to music, reading without music, or reading with music, and the extent of deep impression. Then, experimental results are analyzed by considering the differences of impressions between a novel and music, and the effects caused by the repetition of reading. This paper clarifies that the impressions after reading a novel with listening to music may approach to the ones after listening to music only, and that the tendency to be influenced by impressions from listening to music is different.
