A Data Mining Analysis of Asthma Risk Factors

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of theairways. Although causes of asthma may directly related toenvironment factors such as dust mites, pollens, cold air, etc.,we would like to find out if demographic, social and behaviorfactors also play a role. In this paper, we present a studyof the behavioral rick factors in relation to people gettingasthma. This study applies data mining techniques to the 2013Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) dataset ofover 490,000 observations with 336 variables. The results revealsome relationships between some of these variables and asthmathat may help asthma prevention.
