Abstract :
Users mobility is a crucial issue in cellular networks. For example, during the same call, users may go through different cells/networks, triggering handover procedures, which is most likely a source of call drops. In this paper, we take advantage of statistical methods for the processing of the handover data, such as outgoing and incoming handover (OH and IH), in order to highlight correlation between neighbouring cells regarding OH-IH. We considered the assumption that a non-correlated neighbouring cells regarding OH-IH means that a network is likely to fail at the boundary of the cells´ coverage areas. The aim of our approach is to detect network dysfunctions (call drops) due to handover at the boundary of the source and destination cell. Results analysis of two different studied regions is presented to show the effectiveness of this approach.
