Abstract :
We report much improved color gamut liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with specially engineered low-reabsorption, narrow emission spectrum and high quantum yield colloidal quantum-dot light converting device (QLCD) and its applications to TV displays. By theoretical and experimental optimizations, color gamut as wide as 120% NTSC standard is demonstrated. QCLD has also been tested for stability under conditions with an average blue light flux of 1.1 W/cm2 and an internal temperature of 125°C for the QLCD. No statistical change in color coordinates CIEx or CIEy is observed after 2750 hours continuous aging test, which demonstrates the great potential for using the QLCD for next generation LCD TV with much improved performance.
