Abstract
In this paper, a modified spiking neuron circuit (MSNC) with memory threshold is presented. The MSNC can store the potential of the threshold signal at the latest firing time as threshold under the control of pulse, implying the memory of threshold. We extend the definition of the least common multiple to obtain the iterative map of firing phase of the MSNC. By studying the iterative map of firing time and firing phase, the characteristics of dynamics and statistics, including chaos and pseudo randomness, are revealed. Accordingly, the chaotic map generated by MSNC is applied to image encryption. The resulting image is totally noise-like. Furthermore, the hardware circuit of MSNC is done in our laboratory. Through experiment simulation and actual circuit testing, the results verify the design.
