Abstract
A fitting approach of wind speed distribution based on maximum entropy principle is proposed to assess the reliability of power systems. Firstly, a model of wind speed distribution is presented by considering the first order origin moment and the second to fourth order central moment of wind speed data as the constraints of the maximum entropy. Secondly, a model of power system reliability assessment is gained by calculating the convolution of probability distributions of wind generation and traditional generation. Finally, the LOLP index is used to evaluate the reliability of the RBTS test system by this method. Results show that this approach cannot only provide an accurate estimation of wind speed distribution, but also improve the accuracy of reliability assessment of wind integrated power systems.
