Abstract :
This paper reviews new development of ultra-large-area low-loss fibres for 400Gbit/s and beyond coherent systems and discusses their impacts on transmission performance. It also describes advanced fibre amplifiers including ultra-wide-band complementary Raman/EDFA, and ribbonized EDFA array for high capacity network.
