Monitoring system with application in air transport

The present paper describes a modern and complete solution to be employed by the airport control tower for the surveillance and monitoring of the surrounding perimeter fence. The proposed solution is based on CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) IP (Internet Protocol) cameras, communication network and server and client video applications running in a virtual environment. The proposed monitoring and surveillance solution aims at improving the existing solutions for security and safety in airports. While using the virtual environment for hosting the server and client applications, the designed solution allows the user to not be hardware dependent by using “of the shelves” inexpensive hardware platforms for virtualization.
