Abstract :
We study plasmonic properties of metal nanoparticles with sharp corner- and tip-shaped surface perturbations supporting plasmon resonances superlocalized on the scale of the curvature radius. We reveal the conditions for employing such particles as nano-antennas that precisely couple the free-space light to the nanosize volumes near the perturbation apexes with the light fields enhanced by several orders of magnitudes.
