Abstract :
Many applications related to images & videos require high quality of images. These high quality of images require high data bandwidth to transfer through network. Also they require huge storage to store high resolution of images. So in such applications image compression is essential for satisfying requirements of such applications. In today´s image compression techniques transforms are widely used for maintaining quality of compressed images. This paper proposes the extended performance of Self Mutated Hybrid Wavelet Transform (SMHWT) using Cosine Transform, Haar Transform, Slant Transform & Kekre Transform. The overall experimentation is done using 15 color images having size 256×256×3 with ten different compression ratios i.e. 50%,55%,60%,65%,70%,75%,80%,85%,90% & 95%. The results shows that the self mutated hybrid wavelet transform generated with Cosine-Haar constituent orthogonal transform gives better results for lower compression ratios of 50% to 70%. The hybrid wavelet transform generated using Cosine-Haar constituent transforms gives better image compression quality for higher compression ratios i.e. 75% to 95%.
