Abstract
This paper reports a flexible, conformal loop antenna with flexible substrate for intramuscular myoelectric sensor implants in Intramuscular Electromyogram Recording. This antenna works in the Med Radio band (402 MHz-406 MHz) which is the most popular band for bio medical telecommunication applications and ISM band (433-434.8 MHz). An antenna design is proposed and optimized for desired band of operation. It has an omnidirectional radiation pattern and high realized gain of -41.3dBi. Due to its conformability and flexibility, it can be wound around the medical implants easily. This antenna is suitable for implants of 4.5mm radius and length 8mm. Simulation results shows that this antenna has a bandwidth of 200MHz in the Med Radio and ISM band with VSWR<;2. The peak 1-g SAR for 0.5 Watt input power is 153 W/Kg.
