Abstract
Recent moves by regulatory bodies indicate that Cognitive Radios (CR) and Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) Networks are on the verge of becoming a deployed reality. However, it is unclear whether the evaluation mechanisms for proposed architectures and protocols are adequate. Traditional modeling approaches cannot capture key aspects of these next generation technologies. To capture the interplay between different actors and the behavioral aspects of these systems, we propose the use of an Agent based modeling approach. We also present a comprehensive set of Dimensions that we consider critical for the evaluation of CR/DSA systems. Preliminary results using the ABMS tool Netlogo are presented.
