Abstract
This paper addresses the continuing problem in the United States of a lack of female professionals in Computer Science. The research team conducted surveys of middle school students and working adults to examine their attitudes, motivations, and experience with Computer Science. Based on the survey findings, the researchers are able to evaluate the effects of early, positive exposure to computer programming and give recommendations on how to improve the attitudes and confidence of young girls toward a possible career in Computer Science.
