Abstract
Sequence alignment is an important method of sequence analysis in biological informatics, by which the characteristics of a gene family can be conveniently determined through consensus sequence. Finding a consensus sequence prior to multiple sequence alignment makes the sequence alignment easier. Thus, the consensus sequence should be produced by simulated annealing and star alignment algorithms. Furthermore, the star alignment can be used to compare each sequence in the consensus sequence.
