Abstract :
This paper presents the challenges involved in designing a new concept of a dual polarized circular array antenna for passive radar systems. A suitable combination of an antenna shape makes it possible to obtain vertical polarization in VHF_I (88 MHz ÷ 108 MHz) and horizontal polarization in VHF_II (174 MHz ÷ 230 MHz) without using an antenna crossed shape. Moreover a digital beamforming algorithms were discussed to show a possibility of steering the radiation pattern of the designed array in the direction of interest and also to obtain nulls for unwanted signals.
