Abstract
In this paper, we present a novel real-time multiple target detecting scheme using microwave metamaterials (MTMs). By utilizing the frequency-space mapping characteristic of microwave MTMs, we are able to detect multiple targets in real time by simply reading the received spectral components with minimum post-processing that is usually required in conventional radar or imaging systems. The proposed scheme demonstrates an ultrafast, simple, low cost, and low latency architecture for target detection and is very promising to be adapted into any real time radar systems.
