Abstract :
A novel near-field communication uplink system is proposed. It uses coils as antennas, coils that are also used for inductive wireless power supply. It is symbiotic with the power supply due to negligible interaction. Using binary phase shift keying, it has a lower bit error rate compared with systems using load shift keying. Furthermore, it is able to communicate under ultra low coupling coefficient. The total power consumption of the implanted transmitter is only 0.6 mW. The external receiver reliably receives less than 10 mV signal under 280 V interference. In experiments, the bit error rate of our uplink system was under 1.0E-07 with coils 70 mm apart, when the power transfer is on.
