Abstract
This paper presents and evaluates a model for a generic monitoring system, suitable for a vascular graft bioreactor. The encapsulated monitoring system called BioSens is mounted inside the bioreactor to collect measurements from growing tissue. With an integrated IEEE 802.15.4 compliant RF transceiver all communication with the monitoring system can be done wirelessly. Energy consumption, experiment results and the effects of steam sterilization (autoclaving) are provided.
