Abstract
For protecting the earth, several regulations have been implemented expecting practitioners to play a responsible and active role. The high-tech industries in Taiwan, as major manufacturers in the world, are advised to alleviate the burden to the earth by integrating green concepts into different operations. Collaboration capacity is considered imperative for pursuing excellence. Taking notebook computer companies as examples, the paper aims to explore the role of collaboration capability in the process of ENPD (Environmental New Product Development) at the team level through documentary analysis, in-depth interviews, and content analysis. The results indicate that practitioners do pay attention to the idea of ENPD; supplier management and green procurement are main approaches employed. It is also revealed that OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) companies adopt different approaches to become environmental friendly. Practical implications about green drivers, collaboration, and eco-design were provided in this article.
