  • Abstract
A holistic integrative approach to the management of the energy used by building systems requires, interconnectivity of systems, data collection, analysis and automated control. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Building Automation Systems (BAS) delivers comprehensive building energy renovation and integration. More specifically, this paper proposes that introducing integrated systems with specifically developed business models can directly reduce energy costs and generate operation efficiencies. Targeting energy consumption through efficiency and reduced demand is increasingly important for businesses. Lower operational costs can be achieved through energy efficiency in direct utility savings as well as lower equipment maintenance and increased longevity. Such savings can mean greater competitiveness and help stimulate job creation [DG Ener, 2012].
