Abstract :
This paper investigates the use of Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) techniques for the implementation of cost-effective, future-ready indoor millimeter-wave wireless networks. A broad range of technical challenges stemming from the high carrier frequencies and wide signal channels of millimeter-wave systems are considered. A number of techniques for exploiting and leveraging advanced analog and digital wireless technologies-including MIMO - in these systems are proposed and evaluated. Furthermore, we experimentally demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed simple RoF system techniques for realizing ultra high-capacity systems supporting > 75 Gb/s wireless data access.
