  • Abstract
Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is a key element in improving the senior´s lifestyle and in increasing their independence along with their quality of life. AAL implementation through ICT is a trending research area, especially in the remote monitoring field. One of the biggest issues of the monitoring systems is how they fit into the healthcare system of another country than the country of origin. In the article we present the Romanian healthcare regulations and procedures requirements, for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Mild Dementia patients, and we also present how a monitoring system, like eWALL, fits these requirements. This system is based on a computational-distributed approach (in the manner of fog computing) to process the sensed information from the patient home environment in order to reduce the communications overload and to keep the privacy on the patient life.
