Abstract :
Complex systems in nuclear, aerospace, defence industries are found to function as phased mission system (PMS) and in the recent past analysis of such systems has received lot of attention. A system is called a phased mission system that functions with different specified tasks in sequence and its mission is accomplished when all the specified sequential tasks are completed successfully. Each specified task is identified as a phase and thus a phased mission system always consist of more than one phase. This paper focuses on the development of reliability modeling of non-repairable PMS, and is devoted to analysis of system reliability of a phased mission system using phase failure fault tree model and solve through Boolean algebra method. The authors attempt to develop a methodology to carry out reliability analysis for a real-time phased mission system working in repetitive operating cycles. A mathematical model developed for reliability analysis is also explained. The proposed methodology is illustrated by applying to a case study on a typical hyperbaric chamber facility, which functions in a phased mission system.
